Together with the repair of vessels, we can also build and repair spars. Below is an example of a new main boom being made, in the early stage of 8 siding the spar, with guide marks in place to make 16 sides, and then to round. This spar is made of a clean grade Douglas Fir. We can source mast and spar grade timber.
The above photo also shows repairs to a mizzen mast, where a new top section is being scarphed to fit. The new timber clamped and square. The photo showing the process of repair and construction.
Above shows the scarph joint cut , where is is essential to have perfect close fitting joints to ensure strength of the joint. In this case the new section was superior to the original.
